The young man who was driving the vehicle in which Melissa and Levi lost their lives has been charged
with two counts of dangerous driving causing death. He was driving with a Graduated
Driver’s License. He continues to drive, as a matter of fact – he drove
himself to court November 23, 2006, this was filmed and appeared on CTV news.
QUESTION: Do you think he should be out there still driving?
At this time, there is no provision in the Traffic Safety Act (Alberta regulation 320/2002) to empower
law enforcement to suspend a GDL in cases of serious injury or death. If you feel this
is wrong, if you feel that this should change – PLEASE take the time to download this petition, gather some signatures
and return it to the address provided. If you would like to do even more, call your MLA and express yourself.
HOW TO COMPLETE THE PETITION
- Only original signatures are considered valid, so please, make sure each person signing completes
one section of the form. (Name, phone #, Date, Signature, and Address)
- As this petition relates to provincial legislation, only residents of Alberta can participate.
- All signatures must be on the form provided, signatures appearing on a page without the notice and
prayer will be rejected by Parliamentary Counsel.
- Don’t forget to send the forms and signatures to the address provided, I must receive them for
them to be counted.
- There is no age restriction, so feel free to gather signatures from the young people who will be affected
by this potential change to regulations.
As these things go, the more signatures that we gather, the greater the impact. With this in mind please
pass on the website location to your friends and family throughout Alberta. The more people we can reach the greater potential
for success.
